LiveMint: Bharti Airtel arm applies for in-flight connectivity licence

In regards to in-flight connectivity, Northern Sky Research’s Aeronautical SatCom Market’s 2017 report predicts that by the end of 2019, broadband VSAT (very small aperture terminal) connectivity will be installed on one out of every three commercial passenger aircraft, and will rise to two out of every three by the end of 2026.

According to Northern Sky Research’s (NSR) Aeronautical Satcom Markets, 6th Edition report, In-flight connectivity revenue will be driven primarily by new HTS services and greater penetration in all regions of the world. NSR projects that demand will reach almost 295 Gbps of high-throughput satellite (HTS) capacity and more than 92 transponders of FSS Ku-band demand.
